You Are Not Alone (Y.A.N.A.)!

The City of Goodyear Police Department’s Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) will be implementing a free program called You Are Not Alone (YANA) for its senior residents. The program is designed to provide regular telephone calls and home visits to seniors with limited family or community contacts. It will also take incoming telephone calls from seniors needing assistance in locating specific resources and services.

YANA will promote peace of mind and a sense of security for the elderly individual who may also be disabled and enjoy the independence of living alone, but have no friends or family members available to check on them with any consistency.

While enrolled in the YANA program, participants will be contacted by representatives from The Goodyear Police Department’s Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) who will be making regular telephone calls and home visitations. If an emergency arises during the course of a phone call or home visit, the VIPS will contact communications who will dispatch a Goodyear police officer to the resident.

How does YANA work?
Goodyear Police Department’s Volunteers will make regular telephone calls and visits to YANA participants.

If the volunteers are unable to make contact with the participants after a series of steps, the Goodyear Police Department is called and an officer will make a home safety check and take the appropriate action.

How do I sign up for help?
To become a participant in the YANA program, applicants must complete a form with name, address, phone number, emergency contacts with phone numbers, medical information, number of pets, and vehicle information. All registration forms must be complete and signed by the participant.

For more information, contact: The Goodyear Police Department’s VIPS/YANA Program, yana@goodyearaz.gov or 623-8827481.
